Training
Motorbike training is an important part of staying safe on the roads. Whether you are a beginner wanting to complete your Compulsory Basic Training (CBT), upgrading your bike or an experienced motorcyclist simply looking to refine your skills, training is vital.
Be A Better Biker Courses
In Thames Valley we are pleased to promote the Be A Better Biker courses. For those riders who want to ensure that they are the best they can be, this workshop and rider assessment is a great place to start. BABB will give you chance to take a fresh look at your riding with an approved instructor, many of whom have been or still are Police motorcyclists.
These are being offered in various locations across the region, contact us if you would like to find out more.

CBT
Introduced in 1990, the CBT is a course which must be completed before a learner moped or motorcycle rider is allowed to ride unaccompanied on the road with L-plates. It has proven successful in reducing the accident rate among inexperienced bikers.
If you obtained your car licence before 1 February 2001, you do not need to complete a CBT to ride a moped. However, if you want to ride a motorcycle you must complete this test.
After an introductory part, a CBT course involves a series of practical on-site and on-road training and riding.
Advanced Rider Training
Advanced rider training is available from a range of motoring organisations, including a number listed under our useful links section on this website. Advanced rider training will help bikers ride more safely in all conditions and on all roads.
