Ride Start

RideStart is the young rider training shcme on offer in West Berkshire to help train and help those who ride mopeds or small capacity motorcycles.

The RideStart traning events include:

Practical Ride

Motorcycle traning ‘off road’ incorporating all the basic riding skills

Road Safety and Law

Understanding attitude and behaviour to reduce your road risk. Also includes testing of theory knowledge and understanding of the law.

Protective Gear

Guidance on safety clothing and equipment that should be worn.

Basic Mechanics

Learn simple maintenance to reduce your bike running costs and keep it roadworthy

If you have booked a course

Remember to dress for the weather conditions, the practical element of this programme will be outside. High visibility reflective clothing and safety helmet will be made available on the day for your use. To be able to take part in the practical riding of the motorcycles we need the signed parent/guardian consent form.

Safety and protection

Appropriate clothing for the duration of the course would be

Boots or sensible trainers
Full length jeans or trousers
Long sleeve jacket

During the course there will be periodic breaks for refreshments to include approx 30mins for lunch (please make your own arrangements, bring a packed lunch)

Price

The cost is just £5 to secure your place with a cheque made payable to West Berkshire Council.
