When Milton Keynes dad-of-three Kevin Fox bought a new Yamaha Thundercat 600cc last year he wasted no time in taking it out for a spin. Yet after just a few hours out on the roads with a friend he crashed into a stationary lorry trailer at high speed on the A5.

The impact of the crash ripped off one of his arms and serious head injuries left him fighting for his life.

With the help of his wife and his family, Kevin has begun the long process of rebuilding his life.

Inspector Bob Jarrett of Thames Valley Police said: "Kevin's accident was linked to a combination of high speed and inexperience."

"If he'd had some form of further rider training then he would have been more aware of the consequences of what he was doing."

"It is my belief that if Kevin had taken extra training, he would have avoided this collision and would not have had to rebuild his life without an arm."
